Phobia Vol. 1 (2025)
I have a policy with crowdfunding campaigns, only one at a time. Phobia was a horror anthology funded with a Kickstarter, estimated delivery was March 2024 (some delays were due to confusion around tariffs). I read a lot of horror anthologies and this one hits marks that others can’t reach. It’s funny and it also takes itself seriously. The stores are paced like those old Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, they build a world is less than two hundred words and tell you enough to leave you wanting more. Corny is good in horror, cheesy can be too, it’s a welcome change in pace when the rest of the story is morbid and gory. A lot of other horror short stories that I’ve been reading hit a wall when they want to do another lame story about a tech startup gone wrong, and it’s to feel true fear when the victim in a lot of those others stories are too deserving of their punishment. The stories in Fobia feel like they can happen to you…
Read this by the campfire the weekend before Halloween, so I think it was worth the wait.
Batman / Catwoman: The Gotham War – Battle Lines #1 (2023)
He really thought he was making a point here
Absolute Martian Manhunter #1 (2025)
This book had a really cool trick where you hold up the last page to a light for a reveal
White Tiger: Claws, Paws & Outlaws #1 (2025)
We attended the Philadelphia Cat Lovers Extravaganza. We saw many freaks (the cats).
They were judged on their beauty, not behavior. Very different than a dog show.
