The Walking Dead TP Vol. 14, 15, & 16 - Got these for a dollar each!

So I walk in and ask my girlfriend what she’s watching on the TV. She says it’s one of those 28 Days Later movies, but it’s “real bad”. She’s right, it looks like it was shot on an iPhone and the acting is worse than community theater Shakespeare. It was actually 28 Months After, a purposefully misleading title, which felt like someone filmed their own The Walking Dead fan fiction film. There was action, love, betrayal, but very few actual infected. In the spirit of this accident, we also watched another fan knockoff film, Alien: Rubicon. Despite featuring a cease and desist tempting Xenomorph on the poster, no alien monster in the movie. Instead, the plot centered around an alien orb ship slowly floating over cities and gently destroying everything in its path while marines and gmen gasped in control rooms. It was actually a pretty competent Evangelion movie, but it lacked any giant robots. Truthfully, there may have been an alien or a giant robot, but I wouldn’t know because I couldn’t sit through the last ten minutes.

When I leave the north east I like to get bad pizza. I find it fun to remind myself how good we have it up here. In Arkansas, I think I finally got my fill of bad pizza. This chain, Pizza Pro, serves the south west area with almost one hundred locations, and they basically serve roller skating rink level pizza to you at home for full price. It was a bit astonishing seeing as I must assume this is a popular and profitable franchise. Death to the bad pizza gimmick!

I did a lot more while traveling last week but that’ll all be posted on my Social

I’m making this post from the parking lot of Fantastic Four: First Steps. It was actually pretty good! The characters were done well, they skipped the redundant origin story, and the world had a consistent aesthetic with great props. It was refreshing to hear a Marvel movie with an original soundtrack and score that fit the specific feel of the movie instead of generic action hero tones. Really impressed with how they handled Galactus, a planet sized threat, without making the movie too goofy. Actually, it was exactly goofy enough when it needed to be.

Steve-O has a signature that leaves an impression. The older I get, the more I feel the pain of the physical stunts. At his live show he shared clips from stunts that were too dangerous for television. This sounds like an empty promise, but there really were some bits that a bit heavy. Don’t get me wrong, hilarious pranks and stunts and I like to see some edge at a live show, but I can’t say that MTV was wrong. They told him they didn’t want to endorse a skit where he walks into gun store and asks which pistol would be the best for blowing his teeth out.
