I didn’t forget! I just… thought I wrote the post already. Oh well, not going to pretend this one isn’t late. Over the weekend I decided to check out the fabled new jersey landmark, Blue Hole. They say it’s haunted! They say it’s a naturally occurring phenomenon! It could be both? Basically it’s a pool in the pine barrens that they say sucks you towards the bottom and kills you. Supposedly this is because the bottom leads to other pools and springs underground, and the current can pull you under. There could also be some demons involved. Several people have died at Blue Hole, but I don’t blame the pool. It’s more likely that it was teens being rowdy in a general sense, blaming a tragic accident on outside variables. If you ask me, I think it’s disrespectful to the dead to mythologize their deaths, and THAT could lead to a real haunting. Legendary internet content creator James Rolfe has made a short film about it, we visited the same exact location. It’s interesting that there’s a piece of NJ teenager culture that pervades into nationwide folklore. I’ve gone on record on supernatural podcasts to talk about it too. Admittedly though, I’ve never been there myself until last weekend. I just heard too many stories from friends of mine who said they got arrested for smoking and underage drinking, or got into scuffles with other teens. Probably not a a great place to be on a summer Saturday night for those reasons. I will say though, surprisingly clean. I expected it to be littered with Rolling Rocks.
